Types of Asthma:

  1. Allergic Asthma: Triggered by allergens like pollen, pet dander, dust mites, etc.
  2. Non-Allergic Asthma: Triggered by factors like exercise, cold air, stress, smoke, etc.
  3. Occupational Asthma: Caused by exposure to workplace irritants like chemicals, gases, dust, etc.
  4. Childhood Asthma: Onset during childhood, often associated with allergies and family history.
  5. Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB): Asthma symptoms triggered by physical activity.
  6. Cough-Variant Asthma: Main symptom is a persistent cough without wheezing or shortness of breath.

Causes of Asthma:

  1. Genetics: Family history of asthma or allergies increases the risk.
  2. Environmental Factors: Exposure to allergens, pollution, smoke, or occupational hazards.
  3. Respiratory Infections: Viral infections in childhood can increase susceptibility.
  4. Allergens: Pollen, dust mites, pet dander, mold, etc.
  5. Airborne Irritants: Smoke, strong odors, pollution.
  6. Exercise and Physical Activity: Intense exercise can trigger symptoms.
  7. Stress and Emotional Factors: Emotional stress can exacerbate symptoms.

Diagnosis of Asthma:

  2. Physical Examination: Including lung function tests like spirometry and peak flow.
  3. Allergy Testing: Skin tests or blood tests to identify specific allergens.
  4. Bronchial Challenge Test: Measures lung function before and after inhaling a substance that triggers asthma symptoms.
  5. Imaging Tests: X-rays or CT scans to rule out other conditions.

Treatment of Asthma:

  1. Medications:
