International Colorist Academy (ICA) and Videopro Present 3-Day "Colourist Strategies" Training Course in Australia
International Colorist Academy (ICA) co-founder, Warren Eagles, is leading ICA's first Asia Pacific "Colourist Strategies" training course in January, 2010.
 
The 3-day course will take place at Videopro's Business Centre, located in Brisbane, Australia.
 
The course will be run using Apple Color and will cover topics from basic color theory, terminology, primary and secondary color correction, digital intermediate and film workflows, telecine and grading history, client interaction, speaking the language of DP's, looks and styles and much more.
Digital Vision's Stereoscoptic Toolset Grades UK's first 3D Movie StreetDance
Digital Vision announced that its stereoscopic toolset is being used to grade the UK's first 3D feature film StreetDance.
 
German post production facility, Post Republic will begin grading the full length feature next month using Film Master 2009
IVC's New Proprietary, A.R.T. (Advanced Restoration Technology) System
A.R.T. is based on a new concept for grain and noise reduction-or-removal.  It is resolution independent, does not reduce picture sharpness, is controllable, and does not create motion artifacts (or any other artifacts).
 
IVC DIGITAL FILM CENTER (2777 N. Ontario St, Burbank) is giving daily, M-F, demonstrations of this process digitally projected on a 26' screen.
Active Storage Completes Series A Investment Round
Active Storage, Inc. announced that it has completed its Series A funding round lead by Intel Capital with top-tier venture capital firms Mission Ventures and Valhalla Partners.

The company founders were previously executives at Apple, Inc. where they were responsible for Server and Storage products.

In-Three and Reliance Mediaworks Partner for World's Largest 2D to 3D Faclity
Reliance MediaWorks Ltd., an India based film and entertainment services company and a member of the Reliance ADA group has partnered 2D to stereo 3D conversion pioneer In-Three to establish the world's largest facility dedicated to the conversion of 2D films and videos into 3D, based in India.
 
Framestore invest in Nuke site license from The Foundry
Framestore, a visual effects and computer animation studio in Europe, has invested in a Nuke site license.
Framestore won Academy and BAFTA Awards in 2008 in recognition of their VFX work on The Golden Compass and have been using Nuke on all their recent projects including Avatar.
AmberFin launches new iCR Format Convertor
The iCR Format Convertor is designed to support the increasing need for broadcast file based workflows which require up-converting existing content from 576i to 720p or 1080i for HD transmission.
 
The iCR Format Convertor is also specifically relevant for companies looking to take advantage of HD web delivery, which uses primarily 720p but has recently started to require 1080p.
 
A range of other up, down and cross conversion modes also appeal to post-production houses in need of all-round high quality file format conversion.
