Sony Pictures Entertainment Opens Colorworks Digital Intermediate Facility
The 14,000 square foot center, housed in the studio's "Stage 6," features state-of-the-art technology offering real-time, 4K processing in a full digital workflow for top filmmakers from across the industry.
 
Colorists John Persichetti, Steve Bowen and Trent Johnson, whose credits include a combined total of hundreds of pictures from across the major studios, have joined the Colorworks team.
Cine-tal Systems Expands Film Profiling Services
Cine-tal's cineSpace customers can now receive overnight film profiling services in North America as well as in the company's operations in Australia.
 
Cine-tal's cineSpace film profiling services provides cineSpace color profiles of a film-out for use in the cineSpace product suite. Users use the film-out color profile to emulate the film colorspace while working on video monitors in VFX, DI and Animation.

The Foundry Recognized as Leading British Innovator
This week Lord Drayson and James Caan joined industry leaders in celebrating companies at the leading edge of science, technology and innovation.

The Foundry, a developer of visual effects software, won the "iaward for entertainment and media", sponsored by The British Library and presented by John Seargent.
Digital Vision Announces Michael Freudenthal as CEO
Digital Vision has named Michael Freudenthal as CEO, starting as of December.
 
Klas Åström, will remain with the company as CFO.
Sony Pictures Entertainment Selects FilmLight's Baselight for Post Facility
FilmLight announces delivery of seven Baselight colour grading systems to Sony Pictures Entertainment.
 
The systems will be installed at Sony's newly-built digital intermediate facilities on the Sony Studios lot in Culver City, California.
UK Film Council Sets out new Plans to Steer Film Through the Recession
The UK Film Council launches a three month public consultation into the most significant revision of its activities since it was created in 2000.

sets out the policy and funding priorities for the next three years (April 2010 to March 2013).
Event: Explore tapeless workflow at the motion picture lab
The Digital Cinema Society his holding an event to explore tapeless workflow at the motion picture lab.

The meeting will take place on Saturday, December 5, from 10:00 AM until Noon, at FotoKem in Burbank, CA. 

Featuring the services of nextLAB, attendees will see how a full service Film and Digital lab handles data for new camera technologies and their associated file-based workflows.

Looking at P2, S.two, RED, XDCAM, Phantom and more, nextLAB's Steve Beres, Tom Vice and Mike Brodersen will advise on best practices to insure data integrity and color management throughout the post pipeline - from backup and dailies to DI, filmout and archive.
Event: Band Pro's One World on HD
This December Band Pro Film & Digital opens its doors to celebrate its 25th Anniversary with a "One World on HD" Open House and New Digital Seminar Series.

The events kick off Tuesday, December 15th, with a free Sony F35 camera training session geared specifically for DITs.
