Cooke Optics and The Foundry Collaborate to Improve Post Process
Cooke Optics announced that it is working with The Foundry to incorporate /i Technology into Nuke, a  compositing application.
 
/i 'Intelligent' Technology enables the recording of accurate, frame-by-frame lens and camera data, saving visual effects artists hours of time in post production by eliminating the need to guess lens parameters and camera information.
JMR Launches RED-Compatible Video Storage Server
The new BlueStor RED Video Storage Server, with a transfer rate of over 1.4 GB/s, is ideal for recording and streaming digital video imagery captured on a RED ONE digital camera or used in SD/HD/2K and 4K post-production workflows.
Final Frame Post Completes Digital Intermediate for Peter and Vandy Film
Final Frame Post provided the digital intermediate services for "Peter and Vandy," a feature written and directed by Jay DiPeitro and based on his award-winning play.  The film opened in limited release on Friday, October 9, 2009 and was previewed at Sundance.

Will Cox, Final Frame Post co-founder and colorist, conformed, graded and digitally color corrected the material on their Digital Vision Nucoda Film Master system and Rising Sun Research's CineSpace for color management.

UK Government to Back National Film Centre
A new £166 million national film centre will be created in London, boosted by a Government cash injection announced by Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
The Government pledged £45 million towards the state-of-the art project on the South Bank, expected to be built by 2015.
South African Film industry plead to MPs for help
Representatives of the South African film industry have complained to Parliament that they are staring de-industrialisation in the face.
 
The portfolio committee on trade and industry heard on Friday that thanks mainly to the global economic crisis advertising volumes were down 15 percent or more and there has been a severe drop in film investment.

Storek Studio Joins FXFactory Development Partner Program
Noise Industries, developer of visual effects tools for the postproduction and broadcast markets, announced that new development partner, Storek Studio, has released an update to its widely popular nVeil video plug-in exclusively for the FxFactory platform.
 
nVeil creates unique kaleidoscopic visual effects by filtering source imagery through vector graphic veils.
UK Film Industry Update:  UK Film Council Report
Film production activity in the UK in the first nine months of 2009 was £857.2 million, the best first nine months since 2003.
 
Production spend was up £345 million compared to Jan-Sept 2008 (£512.3m) and £114 million higher than Jan-Sept 2007 (£742.8m).
 
The bulk of the activity (£686.4m) was accounted for by inward investment productions, that is films which are substantially financed and controlled from abroad (mostly from the USA) but shot in whole or part in the UK.

IVC Appoints Sean McKee as Director of Restoration
McKee most recently served as CEO of Screen Time Images, a Chicago based film and audio restoration company.
 
He is known as a pioneer in the field of digital film and audio restoration, developing several proprietary software tools.
