Joe Kane and Da-Lite Announce New JKP Affinity Screen for Post Production
Joe Kane Productions and Da-Lite Screen Company have released the second screen in the JKP Affinity Screen series with the introduction of the HD Progressive 0.6 gain material.
 
HD Progressive 0.6 is designed specifically for post production telecine bays that require the ultimate in video reproduction for video and film editing/production.

Final Call for Short Papers -- Conference on Visual Media Production (CVMP)
CVMP, the European Conference on Visual Media Production, taking place on 12th & 13th November 2009 at the BFI Southbank, London, is putting out the final call for short papers presenting the latest research in media production.
 
The deadline for the submission of one-page papers, presenting novel research-in-progress, is October 14th.
BrightDrive Media Recording Chosen by The Gate, Lebanon, for New Digital Post and DI Data Infrastructure
The new BrightDrive Pro2 system with 3 streams of realtime 2k and 36 Terabytes of storage, will enable multiple operators at The Gate to access and use media concurrently while working within an integrated digital environment.
 
The Gate was established in 2001 as Lebanon's first film processing and telecine service provider.

Quantel Announces Provisional Financial Results
Quantel announced its provisional results for its 2008/9 financial year, which ended on 30th September 2009.
 
Quantel has increased its turnover by 12% and reported its best operating profit since the company's Management Buyout in 2000.

Mitomo Upgrades To Fairlight's Latest CC-1 Technology
Tokyo-based post production facility Mitomo VTC (Video Technical Centre) has upgraded its Fairlight equipment to encompass Fairlight's latest Crystal Core (CC-1) technology.
The facility has been using Fairlight FAME technology for some years but has now installed two Constellation XCS consoles, powered by the company's CC-1 engine.
 
The new desks include a three-bay console, which has been installed in studio MA1, and a four-bay console that is the centerpiece of studio MA2.
 
Mitomo VTC is primarily involved in audio post production for television and its main client is Japanese broadcaster NHK.

HD EXPO - Createasphere Set to Host 4K Forum
The 4K Forum, a technology showcase and gathering, attracts companies across the spectrum of content creation, as well as serving as a symposium in which the latest information and advancements in 4K can be explored.
 
This year's Forum will focus specifically on the needs of the feature film industry from production through exhibition.
 
The Forum presents in-depth information and support for professionals who are considering the use of 4K video for production or digital cinema exhibition.

Digital Domain Expands into Vancouver
The company also announced that it has named veteran production executive Gloria Borders to the position of President, Feature Film Operations, overseeing visual effects production across its Venice, California and Vancouver studios.
