SGI Acquires COPAN Systems
SGI acquired substantially all the assets of COPAN Systems on February 23, 2010.
 
COPAN, a privately held company based in Longmont, CO provides enterprise-class storage solutions for the protection and management of Persistent Data.
 
This new platform will allow SGI customers access to Virtual Tape Library (VTL) and Disk-to-Disk capabilities, as well as an integrated, real-time Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) solution.

Panasonic Solutions Company Launches Operations
The new B2B-focused company will incorporate the operations of Panasonic Computer Solutions Company, Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems Company and Panasonic Professional Display Company and formally launched operations on April 1, 2010.
 
Joseph M. Taylor, Chairman and CEO of Panasonic Corporation of North America, announced that Rance Poehler will head the newly consolidated Panasonic Solutions Company as President.
ARRI's New ARRISCAN Archive
ARRI has developed a series of tools specifically designed for ARRISCAN film restoration and archiving: a new archive gate; a sprocketless film transport; a wet gate and an archive software module.
 
At NAB, HS-Art an ARRI partner will be demonstrating its Diamant restoration software, which allows for a archive scanning workflow when used in conjunction with the ARRISCAN

FotoKem Budapest Puts SCANITY Film Scanner and Bones Dailies Software at the Heart of New Post Facility
DFT Digital Film Technology announces that FotoKem Budapest has taken delivery of a SCANITY film scanner and 2-seat Bones Dailies software.
 
In 2009, FotoKem Budapest, Raleigh Studios, and Origo Film Group formed a strategic alliance to establish and operate a state-of-the-art studio servicing the global filmmakers and the European motion picture market.
 
The studio also includes a film lab and post production facility run by FotoKem Budapest that has been outfitted with high-end 2K/4K scanning, digital intermediate and finishing solutions.
Barrandov (Prague) Chooses Pandora Revolution Grading Solution
Barrandov, one of Europe's longest established film studios, have chosen a Revolution data grading suite from Pandora.
The suite is connected directly to Barrandov's IBM SAN and their DFT Digital Film Technology Spirit HD.
 
Digital Vision Announces Technology Partnership with AmberFin
Digital Vision has announced an OEM agreement with Ingest, Transcode and Quality Control provider AmberFin.
 
This technology partnership sees AmberFin integrate Digital Vision's DVO image processing software tools with its new software-based iCR Standards Converter.
Light Illusion supports wider range of X-Rite calibration probes, and adds Film Profiling Service
UK specialist digital film consultancy Light Illusion announces support for a wider range of X-Rite calibration probes for its display colour management software, the 3D LUT Builder.
 
Light Illusion also announced a Custom Film Profiling service - aimed at providing generated profile data from film negative and print stocks for use with any of the presently available calibration management systems (CMS) from many different manufacturers.

The Foundry Unveils New Range of Products at NAB - SL2805
The Foundry are collaborating with Weta Digital to bring to market their internally developed 3D texture painting technology, Mari.

Simultaneously, the company is announcing the latest version of Nuke - Nuke 6.1 - and a brand new range of Adobe After Effects plug-ins.
 
All of these products will be on display for the first time at NAB 2010 in Las Vegas from 10th-15th April at Stand SL 2805.

Michael Taylor Named CEO at Rising Sun Pictures
Rising Sun Pictures has appointed Michael Taylor as Chief Executive Officer.
 
Taylor, who formerly served as Chief Operating Officer/VFX for Santa Monica, California-based Ascent Media, brings more than 20 years experience in the motion picture industry, including executive positions with Riot, Digital Domain and Rhythm and Hues, all in Southern California.
