Volker Massmann, Markus Hasenzahl and Andreas Loew will each receive a Scientific and Engineering Award for the development of the Spirit 4K/2K Film Scanner. Christian Baeker and Frank Billasch will each receive a Technical Achievement Award for their contributions to the LUTher Color Space Converter. Dr. Klaus Anderle was involved in the development of both products and will receive both awards. Read on... ARRISCAN Innovators to receive Academy Sci Tech Awards The recipients will be Michael Cieslinski, Dr. Reimar Lenz and Bernd Brauner for "the development of the ARRISCAN film scanner, enabling high-resolution, highdynamic range, pin-registered film scanning for use in the digital intermediate process." Read on... 10 Minute Tales and The Queen in 3d Brought to Life by Ascent 142 and Digital Vision Ascent 142, a Soho, London facility has used its Digital Vision portfolio on a number of recent high profile projects including Sky One's highly acclaimed 10 Minute Tales, Channel 4's The Queen in 3D and Ealing comedy The Lady Killers. The Queen in 3D, a project for the British Film Institute (BFI), was graded using Film Master's stereoscopic toolset and restored on Digital Vision's DVNR. Read on... Light Illusion Takes Indian DI International Two international film projects have been completed under Steve Shaw's (Light Illusion CEO) supervision where he also acted as lead DI Colourist. Four further projects are already lined-up for Indian-based DI in 2010.   During 2009, shot in the UK, indie film 'Freight' was directed by Stuart St. Paul, and shot on RED One cameras. As it turned out, this DI was completed totally remotely from the UK, as other commitments prevented any of the production team attending the DI sessions. Read on... Sean Farrow - Visual Effects Supervisor - joins LipSync LipSync Post, a Soho, London post-production facility, announced that it has appointed Sean Farrow to join its VFX department as Executive Visual Effects Supervisor. Farrow will work alongside LipSync's Head of VFX, Stefan Drury, to expand the US and international client base as well as overseeing VFX work on projects going through the facility. Read on...
