International Colorist Academy (ICA) and Videopro Presents 3-Day "Colourist Strategies" Training Course in Australia

International Colorist Academy (ICA) co-founder, Warren Eagles, is leading ICA's first Asia Pacific "Colourist Strategies" training course in January, 2010. The 3-day course will take place at Videopro's Business Centre, located in Brisbane, Australia.

"Colourist Strategies" will provide colourists with the toolset to maximise their abilities and gain an edge on their competition. It provides students with an opportunity to learn directly from an experienced colorist. The course is also ideal for those who want insight into becoming a colorist.

The course will be run using Apple Color and will cover topics from basic color theory, terminology, primary and secondary color correction, digital intermediate and film workflows, telecine and grading history, client interaction, speaking the language of DP's, looks and styles and much more.

JVC Introduces IF-2D3D1 Stereoscopic Image Processor
The unit offers real-time 2D-to-3D conversion to repurpose archived content.
 
It also serves as 3D L/R Mixer for monitoring 3D footage on location.
 
Housed in a 1RU metal cabinet and compatible with a wide range of HD formats, the IF-2D3D1 is designed to help 3D content producers improve their workflow, whether they are converting archived 2D material or shooting original content in 3D.
Digital Cinema Packaging (DCP) Services from FINAL FRAME POST

Final Frame's DCP (Digital Cinema Package) services provide a complete solution for the encoding, secure key embedding, encryption, storing, decoding, viewing, and packaging of digital cinema content for delivery to digital cinemas and digital festivals / screenings.

At the heart of their DCP service, Final Frame has invested in a scalable digital cinema solution from Dolby including the Dolby Secure Content Creator (SCC2000) and Dolby Screen Server (DSS200).
 
The Dolby SCC2000 offers a comprehensive set of tools needed to take a Digital Cinema Distribution Master (DCDM) and quickly produce final 2K or 4K digital cinema distribution files - Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) for distribution to cinemas via satellite, fiber, or physical media. The DSS200 is a platform that stores, decodes, and delivers content to a digital cinema projector.
 
Final Frame's screening room is also equipped with a Barco digital cinema projector, which are designed with a high-end post production and digital cinema workflow in mind and offer high quality images to ensure that what you see in post is what will be seen in digital cinema theatres and screenings.
MAXON CINEMA 4D Used for Star Trek Blu-ray Release
MAXON Computer announced that the 3D matte painting and texturing capabilities of MAXON's CINEMA 4D were used to recreate backgrounds in HD for release of the original Star Trek television series on Blu-ray Disc.
 
The Original Series Re-mastered (Star Trek TOS-R) was released by CBS/Paramount Home Entertainment in 2009 and Season 3 went on sale December 15th, 2009.
