PSI has a dedicated data interface turning a Spirit Classic into a real time 2K data scanner

The PSI Spirit Interface plugs directly into the data path of a DFT Digital Film Technology Spirit Classic to capture the full frame 2k (2048 x 1556) data in real time and lay off dpx files directly to attached media.

Without modification to the Spirit * or need for any previously installed data options, such as Bones or the Phantom Transfer Engine, PSI has a dedicated data interface turning a Spirit Classic into a real time 2K data scanner. Operation as a video device is unaffected – video outputs are available simultaneously – and the system can be used with a DFT Digital Film Technology Scream Film Grain reducer to provide clean scan frames in a single pass. A real time spatial processor allows files to be created in other resolutions as required and 1D and 3D LUTS may be applied simultaneously.

The scanning operation is performed at normal telecine play speed [24 -30fps] and the software provided can use an externally created EDL or ‘Pull List’ to control the scanning process, in which case only the necessary frames will be scanned and stored. Alternatively the entire film roll can be scanned in minimal time. Full resolution DPX frames are created with keycode metadata inserted into the file header with the resulting file directory structure being managed in the same, efficient manner.
