Codex Digital,
the leading developer of digital media recorders and media management systems
for film and television production, announced that Codex Onboard Recorders
have been used on approximately 50 feature films in 2011.
Beginning with
"Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" (Warner Bros/Paramount) and "The
Wettest County" (Annapurna Pictures) early in 2011, Codex Digital has seen
a huge demand for ARRIRAW recording for feature film projects worldwide.
Codex
Digital was able to provide a simple, reliable workflow for ARRIRAW that weve
seen adopted on all the major feature films that have used ARRIRAW with the ARRI
Alexa camera, says Sarah Priestnall, VP Market Development for Codex. We
are excited to work with the worlds leading cinematographers, including
Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC, and Robert Richardson, ASC."
As part of
their ongoing collaboration with ARRI, Codex Digitals engineers have ensured
that Codex recorders and data packs are able to record higher ARRIRAW frame rates,
utilizing existing technology. The Codex ARRIRAW PLUS recorder is now able to
record ARRIRAW at up to 60 FPS, as well as two channels of ARRIRAW at up to 30
FPS. Codex recorders can also be used with the new ARRI Alexa Studio camera and
are currently be used in this fashion on the new James Bond movie "Skyfall"
with cinematography by Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC.
Feature films currently
in production using Codex recorders include "The Avengers", "This
is Forty", "R.I.P.D, Skyfall, "Trance", "World War Z",
"Broken City", "Dogfight" and "Gangster Squad".
