Film Recording
Complete film out solution including ArriLaser recorder which is a state of the art pin registered laser recorder with 2k and 4k recording to any 4 perf format with CMS for shooting video to film color space and dedicated rack mount computer; Philips FP 20 35mm film projector that has been completely rebuilt with a Dolby CP 50 sound processor and numerous flat lenses; Plus 310 Densitometer by X-Rite, an LS-100 lumenance meter by Konica Minolta and an Ultrasonic film splicer.
Scanning
Complete NorthLight 1 scanning system for 35mm and 16mm film. Scanner with IR detection and Forge software for automatic dirt paint out, also includes MTI Correct software for damaged film repair and manual dirt paint out. Prista film cleaner from San Lab Systems to ensure the cleanest film possible goes onto the scanner. Custom film winder with built in Digisync key code reader allows film to be quickly logged off the scanner to a project database to confirm shots, EDL etc. A complete package for scanning for features or commercials.
Color Grading
Complete BaseLight IV (20 TB dedicated online storage) and BaseLight I (6 TB dedicated online storage) systems. BaseLight IV works on full 2k files while BaseLight I uses 1k proxies. Ideally suited to the DI work flow, reels can be conformed/checked against off-line on BaseLight I while completed reels are being graded on BaseLight IV. A common database allows work on the same material and projects to be carried out on either system. Both systems are fully capable of video input and output from sources ranging from DVcam, Betacam SP and Digital Betacam right up to HDCam SR. Offline tapes can be ingested for conform and check tapes laid off for approval. Grading can be done for a film or video finish. TrueLight calibrates displays for film or video colour space. For film finish projects, video deliverables can be mastered and layed off to tape. The BaseLight package we have put together will allow you to work on video or film finish projects, bring in and lay off all formats of video, store the data off the system redundantly and back up the finished project on tape.
Video, Storage & Workstations
Complete video racks, including Sony HD Cam SR deck, Digital BetaCam, BetaCam SP, and DV Cam decks. HD scope, legalizer and sync generator. 2 HD monitors. A full compliment of SD equipment and audio capability. One storage rack with 2 SGI 300 servers, Netstore drive array, Linux server (with 20TB storage) and LTO 3 tape backup system. Plus Mac Pro dual processor quad core workstations, large assortment of computers and LCD monitors.
Projects completed at this facility include The Haunting In Connecticut, I'm Not There, Water, Land Of The Dead, Brokeback Mountain, Assault On Precinct 13, 16 Blocks, and The Sentinel.
