Without AlphaDogs'
immediate response, indie filmmaker Dave Reda would have missed
a film festival win for his short film.
Reda wrote, directed, produced, edited and starred in "Horror
of Our Love", a horror/romance/comedy with an unusual
love story and many nods to 80's films. Digital Service Station®
at AlphaDogs in Burbank, came through for him at the eleventh
hour.
"We were in dire need of a transfer from our drive to
HDCAM for the Dances With Films Festival here in L.A. It was
last minute and I found [Digital Service Station] on the internet,"
says Reda. "The festival was Friday and we came in on
Wednesday looking to get a transfer as fast as we could. It
looked and sounded great at the festivalwould have been
really sad to miss the festival and a win due to not getting
a transfer." The short film went on to win the Audience
Award for Best Music Video.
"We started Digital Service Station back in 2004 to answer
the problem of how an editor with his own edit system could
capture or output to expensive tape decks. Now we find that
even with file-based capture, clients often need a variety
of specialized media conversions", says AlphaDogs CEO
and Founder, Terence Curren.
"Additionally, we can offer clients a range of professional
services to polish their projects, including color correction,
sound mixing, motion graphics, and visual effects. Digital
Service Station was a natural extension of AlphaDogs' mission
statement which is 'Save the client money without sacrificing
quality.' We've partnered with other facilities to make Digital
Service Station available across the country and spread that
commitment to more people."
AlphaDogs General Manager Paul De Cham notes that, "Digital
Service Station is a natural fit for students and independent
filmmakers. We care about their small projects just as much
as we do about our larger post-production clients, and they
reward us by spreading our name and returning for repeat business."
"Horror of Our Love" continues to be a big hit with
film festivals around the country, having picked up two additional
awards along the way.
Dave Reda praises Digital Service Station's assistance, "It's
so nice to be treated like a person and not be frowned upon
because I need a little help. Maybe we independent film makers
don't have studio money at the moment but we are the future
and someday we will. We remember who stepped on us and who
helped us along the way, and I truly can't thank AlphaDogs
enough for the help and quality of service!"
