DarbeeVision - DVn v.1.1 Beta now available

August 4, 2008

Source: DarbeeVision

DarbeeVision (DVn) has unleashed their unique realism and depth enhancement technology for digital images.

The release of the DVnPhoto 1.1 software program is the first time you can get a look behind the controls of this unique and patented technology .

DVn software makes digital images look amazingly dimensional and clear. It has been used and tested by Hollywoodand the image media industry for film projects (Robert Altman's GosfordPark and The Company), television commercials, billboards and large scalephotographic art prints. Now everyone can explore the power of embeddingdepth cues within 2D and 3D images to create deeper levels of realism.

You can now download the DVnPhoto 1.1 program for free from http://www.DVnPhoto.com.

To encourage users to experience the technology for themselves, DarbeeVision is offering a limited time offer for each new user free credit for their account. After the free credit is used up, there is a nominal fee for saving output images to disk. This version of DarbeeVision software is for still images up to 100 MB and can import most all image file types.

The website features an image gallery (http://www.dvnphoto.com/gallery) that showcases the range of image enhancement that is possible.

DVn Patented Technology Partners and Licensees DarbeeVision executives are exploring the possibilities for commercial applications of the core patented DVn intellectual property. Groundbreaking technology solutions in moving aperture, multi-aperture, optical lensing, virtual lensing, video hardware, and software plug-ins for image processing and post production are all possible. There are a host of business opportunities currently being developed, such as an embedded webapp for online image enhancement, stereo captured through a single lens, and stereopair depth enhancement for ultra-real 3D. Those parties interested intechnology partnering and licensing opportunities should contact RussAlbright, DarbeeVision CEO, Russ@DarbeeVision.com.

One major feature of DarbeeVision technology is its very powerful, accurate, and fast saliency mask, which only adds depth information into the scene where our eyes would normally look. The overall result is a consistently stunning output image at any resolution. Put simply, DVn images are more real because they contain organic 3D depth information.

DarbeeVision 2.5D Enhancement Explained

DVnPhoto 1.1 will give the world a basic understanding of the benefits that can be realized when using DVn technology for computational image enhancement. Paul Darbee discovered that you get convincing image enhancements when you 'smuggle' binocular depth information into 2D images. The program uses a simple, elegant and yet powerful variation of the common unsharp mask, where the procedure is to defocus and subtract one image of a stereo pair from the other, rather than defocusing and subtracting an image from itself. The new, simple, and unexpected result gives you a '2.5D'image that possesses a unique level of perceived dimensionality. Darbee then discovered a way to get the same great results by synthesizing stereo information from a single starting image. The resulting DVn technology has been awarded a patent and is now available in the DVnPhoto 1.1 software.

Robert Altman stated that viewing DarbeeVision "was like putting on a new pair of glasses" with the dramatic difference in clarity that is only realized through the Darbonization process. Over the past several years, extensive upgrades have been made to the software and a basic patent was issued in 2006. DVn now has patent priority for a wide range of applications that use monoscopic or multiplet source frames for combining images, when one uses blurring or defocusing fo rluminance modulation during image-stacking processing. DarbeeVisionexecutives are currently exploring all possibilities for commercial applications, including solutions in moving aperture, multi-aperture,optical lensing, virtual lensing, and chip and software post-processing.
